Hard Work and Success

Hard work and success go hand-in-hand… But what does success mean? For me, success is working 4 - 5 hours a day, having happy clients, and making a decent living… I don’t want to work more than 5 hours a day because I enjoy being with my family. I stop working at 2 or 3pm, depends on the day.

I don’t want to open up my computer at night with work that needs to be done. Sometimes I need to, but the idea is to stick with the plan…

But I wonder if others feel the same way.

Just to illustrate this… One of my friends is doing a bazaar today and I wish her the best! A bazzar is like a market with people selling items. It’s at a school’s gym, and it’s more informal…

She’s been working towards this bazaar for weeks. She’s been creating her products, and adding the finishing touches to everything she does. All-nighters and everything! But guess what? Success to her is not selling out, it’s being out there and getting the name out. Being able to put herself out there to know that she did it! It has nothing to do with monetary gain (although, it would help a lot if she sells everything). But that’s not the point!

So I think we are misguided to think of success as the person who has all the money in the world, or the person who is famous, or the person who “made it”, but what does that mean to you?

Think about that for a second! If I had 3 or 4 more hours in my day, I would triple my income, but at the expense of my family and I’m NOT willing to do that.

Success has a different definition for each one of us, and it’s up to us to live up to OUR standards, not the standards of what we THINK we should live up to.

Define your goals, define your life, and LIVE the life you want to live!
